# SetDefaultPolicyVersion

Sets the specified version of the specified policy as the policy's default (operative) version.

This operation affects all users, groups, and roles that the policy is attached to. To list the users, groups, and roles that the policy is attached to, use [ListEntitiesForPolicy](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/APIReference/API_ListEntitiesForPolicy.html).

## Request Parameters

 ** PolicyArn **   
The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) of the IAM policy whose default version you want to set.  
For more information about ARNs, see [Amazon Resource Names (ARNs)](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/general/latest/gr/aws-arns-and-namespaces.html) in the * AWS General Reference*.  
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 20. Maximum length of 2048.  
Required: Yes

 ** VersionId **   
The version of the policy to set as the default (operative) version.

Type: String  
Pattern: `v[1-9][0-9]*(\.[A-Za-z0-9-]*)?`   
Required: Yes

 ** InvalidInput **   
The request was rejected because an invalid or out-of-range value was supplied for an input parameter.  
HTTP Status Code: 400

 ** LimitExceeded **   
The request was rejected because it attempted to create resources beyond the current AWS account limits. The error message describes the limit exceeded.  
HTTP Status Code: 409

 ** NoSuchEntity **   
The request was rejected because it referenced a resource entity that does not exist. The error message describes the resource.  
HTTP Status Code: 404

 ** ServiceFailure **   
The request processing has failed because of an unknown error, exception or failure.  
HTTP Status Code: 500
