# Use `DescribeImages` with an AWS SDK or CLI
<a name="ecr_example_ecr_DescribeImages_section"></a>

The following code examples show how to use `DescribeImages`.

Action examples are code excerpts from larger programs and must be run in context. You can see this action in context in the following code example:

#### [ CLI ]

**AWS CLI**
**To describe an image in a repository**
The following `describe-images` example displays details about an image in the `cluster-autoscaler` repository with the tag `v1.13.6`.

```
aws ecr describe-images \
    --repository-name cluster-autoscaler \
    --image-ids imageTag=v1.13.6
```
Output:

```
{
    "imageDetails": [
        {
            "registryId": "012345678910",
            "repositoryName": "cluster-autoscaler",
