CreateThingGroup - AWS IoT

CreateThingGroup

Create a thing group.

Note

This is a control plane operation. See Authorization for information about authorizing control plane actions.

If the ThingGroup that you create has the exact same attributes as an existing ThingGroup, you will get a 200 success response.

Requires permission to access the CreateThingGroup action.

URI Request Parameters

The request uses the following URI parameters.

thingGroupName

The thing group name to create.

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.

Pattern: [a-zA-Z0-9:_-]+

Required: Yes

Request Body

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

parentGroupName

The name of the parent thing group.

Type: String

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.

Pattern: [a-zA-Z0-9:_-]+

Required: No

tags

Metadata which can be used to manage the thing group.

Type: Array of Tag objects

Required: No

thingGroupProperties

The thing group properties.

Type: ThingGroupProperties object

Required: No

If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 200 response.

The thing group ARN.

The thing group ID.

The thing group name.

InternalFailureException

An unexpected error has occurred.

The request is not valid.

ResourceAlreadyExistsException

The resource already exists.

The rate exceeds the limit.
