Options

--cluster-name (string)

The name of your cluster.

--identity-provider-config (structure)

An object representing an identity provider configuration.

type -> (string)

The type of the identity provider configuration. The only type available is oidc .

name -> (string)

The name of the identity provider configuration.

Shorthand Syntax:

type=string,name=string

JSON Syntax:

{
  "type": "string",
  "name": "string"
}

--cli-input-json (string) Performs service operation based on the JSON string provided. The JSON string follows the format provided by --generate-cli-skeleton. If other arguments are provided on the command line, the CLI values will override the JSON-provided values. It is not possible to pass arbitrary binary values using a JSON-provided value as the string will be taken literally.

--generate-cli-skeleton (string) Prints a JSON skeleton to standard output without sending an API request. If provided with no value or the value input, prints a sample input JSON that can be used as an argument for --cli-input-json. If provided with the value output, it validates the command inputs and returns a sample output JSON for that command.

Global Options

--debug (boolean)

Turn on debug logging.

--endpoint-url (string)

Override command's default URL with the given URL.

--no-verify-ssl (boolean)

By default, the AWS CLI uses SSL when communicating with AWS services. For each SSL connection, the AWS CLI will verify SSL certificates. This option overrides the default behavior of verifying SSL certificates.

--no-paginate (boolean)

Disable automatic pagination. If automatic pagination is disabled, the AWS CLI will only make one call, for the first page of results.

--output (string)

The formatting style for command output.

  • json
  • text
  • table

--query (string)

A JMESPath query to use in filtering the response data.

--profile (string)

Use a specific profile from your credential file.

--region (string)

The region to use. Overrides config/env settings.

--version (string)

Display the version of this tool.

--color (string)

Turn on/off color output.

  • on
  • off
  • auto

--no-sign-request (boolean)

Do not sign requests. Credentials will not be loaded if this argument is provided.

--ca-bundle (string)

The CA certificate bundle to use when verifying SSL certificates. Overrides config/env settings.

--cli-read-timeout (int)

The maximum socket read time in seconds. If the value is set to 0, the socket read will be blocking and not timeout. The default value is 60 seconds.

--cli-connect-timeout (int)

The maximum socket connect time in seconds. If the value is set to 0, the socket connect will be blocking and not timeout. The default value is 60 seconds.

Examples

Note

To use the following examples, you must have the AWS CLI installed and configured. See the Getting started guide in the AWS CLI User Guide for more information.

Unless otherwise stated, all examples have unix-like quotation rules. These examples will need to be adapted to your terminal's quoting rules. See Using quotation marks with strings in the AWS CLI User Guide .

Describe an identity provider configuration associated to your Amazon EKS Cluster

The following describe-identity-provider-config example describes an identity provider configuration associated to your Amazon EKS Cluster.

aws eks describe-identity-provider-config \
    --cluster-name my-eks-cluster \
    --identity-provider-config type=oidc,name=my-identity-provider

Output:

{
    "identityProviderConfig": {
        "oidc": {
            "identityProviderConfigName": "my-identity-provider",
            "identityProviderConfigArn": "arn:aws:eks:us-east-2:111122223333:identityproviderconfig/my-eks-cluster/oidc/my-identity-provider/8ac76722-78e4-cec1-ed76-d49eea058622",
            "clusterName": "my-eks-cluster",
            "issuerUrl": "https://oidc.eks.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/id/38D6A4619A0A69E342B113ED7F1A7652",
            "clientId": "kubernetes",
            "usernameClaim": "email",
            "usernamePrefix": "my-username-prefix",
            "groupsClaim": "my-claim",
            "groupsPrefix": "my-groups-prefix",
            "requiredClaims": {
                "Claim1": "value1",
                "Claim2": "value2"
            },
            "tags": {
                "env": "dev"

            "status": "ACTIVE"
        }
    }
}

For more information, see Authenticate users for your cluster from an OpenID Connect identity provider in the Amazon EKS User Guide.

Output

identityProviderConfig -> (structure)

The object that represents an OpenID Connect (OIDC) identity provider configuration.

oidc -> (structure)

An object representing an OpenID Connect (OIDC) identity provider configuration.

identityProviderConfigName -> (string)

The name of the configuration.

identityProviderConfigArn -> (string)

The ARN of the configuration.

clusterName -> (string)

The name of your cluster.

issuerUrl -> (string)

The URL of the OIDC identity provider that allows the API server to discover public signing keys for verifying tokens.

clientId -> (string)

This is also known as audience . The ID of the client application that makes authentication requests to the OIDC identity provider.

usernameClaim -> (string)

The JSON Web token (JWT) claim that is used as the username.

usernamePrefix -> (string)

The prefix that is prepended to username claims to prevent clashes with existing names. The prefix can't contain system:

groupsClaim -> (string)

The JSON web token (JWT) claim that the provider uses to return your groups.

groupsPrefix -> (string)

The prefix that is prepended to group claims to prevent clashes with existing names (such as system: groups). For example, the value``oidc:`` creates group names like oidc:engineering and oidc:infra . The prefix can't contain system:

requiredClaims -> (map)

The key-value pairs that describe required claims in the identity token. If set, each claim is verified to be present in the token with a matching value.

key -> (string)

value -> (string)

tags -> (map)

Metadata that assists with categorization and organization. Each tag consists of a key and an optional value. You define both. Tags don't propagate to any other cluster or Amazon Web Services resources.

key -> (string)

One part of a key-value pair that make up a tag. A key is a general label that acts like a category for more specific tag values.

value -> (string)

The optional part of a key-value pair that make up a tag. A value acts as a descriptor within a tag category (key).

status -> (string)

The status of the OIDC identity provider.
