Describes an activity.

This operation is eventually consistent. The results are best effort and may not reflect very recent updates and changes.

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) of the activity to describe.  
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 256.  
Required: Yes

The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) that identifies the activity.

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 256.

The date the activity is created.  
Type: Timestamp

 ** [encryptionConfiguration](#API_DescribeActivity_ResponseSyntax) **   <a name="StepFunctions-DescribeActivity-response-encryptionConfiguration"></a>
Settings for configured server-side encryption.  
Type: [EncryptionConfiguration](API_EncryptionConfiguration.md) object

The name of the activity.  
A name must *not* contain:  
+ white space
+ brackets `< > { } [ ]` 
+ wildcard characters `? *` 
+ special characters `" # % \ ^ | ~ ` $ & , ; : /` 
+ control characters (`U+0000-001F`, `U+007F-009F`, `U+FFFE-FFFF`)
+ surrogates (`U+D800-DFFF`)
+ invalid characters (` U+10FFFF`)
To enable logging with CloudWatch Logs, the name should only contain 0-9, A-Z, a-z, - and \$1.  
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 80.

The specified activity does not exist.  
HTTP Status Code: 400
