# DisableUser
<a name="API_DisableUser"></a>

Disables the specified user in the user pool. Users can't sign in to WorkSpaces Applications until they are re-enabled. This action does not delete the user.

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

The authentication type for the user. You must specify USERPOOL.  
Type: String  
Valid Values: `API | SAML | USERPOOL | AWS_AD`   
Required: Yes

The email address of the user.  
Users' email addresses are case-sensitive.
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 128.  
Pattern: `[\p{L}\p{M}\p{S}\p{N}\p{P}]+`   
Required: Yes

## Response Elements

If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 200 response with an empty HTTP body.
