# ImportKeyMaterial

The following example shows an AWS CloudTrail log entry generated when you use the [ImportKeyMaterial](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/kms/latest/APIReference/API_ImportKeyMaterial.html) operation. The same CloudTrail entry is recorded when you use the `ImportKeyMaterial` operation or use the AWS KMS console to [import key material](importing-keys-import-key-material.md) into an AWS KMS key.

CloudTrail log entries for this operation recorded on or after December 2022 include the key ARN of the affected KMS key in the `responseElements.keyId` value, even though this operation does not return the key ARN.
