# BatchPutGatewayRateLimits
<a name="API_BatchPutGatewayRateLimits"></a>

Atomically creates or updates multiple rate limits for a gateway. The operation updates existing limits with matching keys and creates new limits for new keys. If the operation fails, the service applies no changes. Retry the request after resolving the issue.

The request uses the following URI parameters.

The unique identifier of the gateway.  
Pattern: `([0-9a-z][-]?){1,100}-[0-9a-z]{10}`

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

A unique, case-sensitive identifier to ensure that the API request completes no more than one time. If you don't specify this field, a value is randomly generated for you. If this token matches a previous request, the service ignores the request, but doesn't return an error. For more information, see [Ensuring idempotency](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/APIReference/Run_Instance_Idempotency.html).

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 33. Maximum length of 256.  
Pattern: `[a-zA-Z0-9](-*[a-zA-Z0-9]){0,256}`

The complete set of rate limits for this gateway. This operation replaces all existing rate limits in a single request. If the operation fails, no rate limits are changed.  
Type: Array of [BatchPutLimitEntry](API_BatchPutLimitEntry.md) objects  
Array Members: Minimum number of 1 item. Maximum number of 50 items.  
Required: Yes

This exception is thrown when a request is made beyond the service quota  
HTTP Status Code: 402

 ** ThrottlingException **   
This exception is thrown when the number of requests exceeds the limit  
HTTP Status Code: 429

 ** ValidationException **   
The input fails to satisfy the constraints specified by the service.
