## Release Summary
This release represents an update to the 9th quarterly release of AL2023. AL2023 is the next generation of Amazon Linux. It comes with five years of support and brings features such as deterministic updates and better optimizations for Graviton processors into Amazon Linux. AL2023 is ready for production workloads, and you can start migrating from previous versions of Amazon Linux today.
**Notable updates**
+ Al2023 minimal container images now fixes the use of dnf flag `--releasever` which was broken in the past. This update also removes `/etc/dnf/vars/releasever` which is made obsolete after this update. Customers are recommended to update to the latest minimal container image with at least system-release-2023.9.20251208-2.amzn2023 to avoid this issue.

+ Node.js v24 LTS `(nodejs24-24.11.0-1.amzn2023.0.1)` is now available in AL2023. Note that unlike Node's official binaries, these are linked against the system OpenSSL 3.2 and honor its policies.

This release represents an update to the 9th quarterly release of AL2023. AL2023 is the next generation of Amazon Linux. It comes with five years of support and brings features such as deterministic updates and better optimizations for Graviton processors into Amazon Linux. AL2023 is ready for production workloads, and you can start migrating from previous versions of Amazon Linux today.

+ `sssd-2.9.4-1.amzn2023.0.3` will now disable the `an2ln` Kerberos plugin in SSSD localauth configuration to prevent unexpected principal mappings (CVE-2025-11561)
+ p7zip is no longer maintained upstream and has been replaced by 7zip to mitigate several high importance CVEs. Upgrading to the latest version of p7zip will replace it with 7zip-standalone which provides the same functionality.
+ The package apr-util-lmdb has been added as a replacement for the package apr-util-bdb.

## Release Summary
This release represents an update to the 9th quarterly release of AL2023. AL2023 is the next generation of Amazon Linux. It comes with five years of support and brings features such as deterministic updates and better optimizations for Graviton processors into Amazon Linux. AL2023 is ready for production workloads, and you can start migrating from previous versions of Amazon Linux today.

## Release Summary

**Notable updates**
+ Per this [release note](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/linux/al2023/release-notes/relnotes-2023.7.20250331.html), ClamAV 1.4 (the `clamav1.4` RPM package) is now the default version in Amazon Linux 2023. Any dnf commands to install, update, or upgrade `clamav` will automatically use `clamav1.4`
+ As part of the remediation for CVE-2025-46818, the Lua functions `getfenv, setfenv, and newproxy` have been deprecated by default for Redis6 and Valkey. If these functions are necessary to your workflow, the option `lua-enable-deprecated-api` can be set to enable them.
+ Removed `.so` files from xmlrpc-c:
+ `xmlrpc-c-1.51.08-2.amzn2023.0.2` Dropped bundled expat in favor of relying on the system libxml2 for xml parsing capabilities. However this means that the associated `.so` files from the bundled expat were removed:
+ 0120777 root:root /usr/lib64/libxmlrpc\$1xmlparse.so.3
+ 0100755 root:root /usr/lib64/libxmlrpc\$1xmlparse.so.3.51

## Release Summary
This release represents an update to the 9th quarterly release of AL2023. AL2023 is the next generation of Amazon Linux. It comes with five years of support and brings features such as deterministic updates and better optimizations for Graviton processors into Amazon Linux. AL2023 is ready for production workloads, and you can start migrating from previous versions of Amazon Linux today.
**Notable updates**
+ The Desktop now officially supports `Touchpads/Touchscreens and Magnification.` Furthermore, remote access is now also possible via `RDP` in addition to the previously supported VNC and Amazon DCV. Decibels, the Gnome audio player was added to AL2023 desktop along with support for decoding mp3 files.
