# Refactoring applications automatically with AWS Transform for mainframe

Automated refactoring with AWS Transform for mainframe provides an end-to-end solution for migrating and modernizing your mainframe applications. The steps in the refactoring process are as follows:
+ Analyze inventory
+ Analyze dependencies
+ Automatically transform code
+ Capture and manage test scenarios

You can complete the previous steps in the AWS Transform for mainframe refactor tool, available through single sign-on from the AWS Mainframe Modernization console.  When you are satisfied with the transformed source code, it's time to move to AWS: **build** and **deploy** the refactored application using [AWS Transform for mainframe Runtime](ba-runtime-options.md).
