For more information about SSM documents, including information about supported schemas, features, and syntax, see Amazon Web Services Systems Manager Documents in the Amazon Web Services Systems Manager User Guide.

Parameters

-Attachment <AttachmentsSource[]>
A list of key-value pairs that describe attachments to a version of a document.

Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Content <String>
The content for the new SSM document in JSON or YAML format. The content of the document must not exceed 64KB. This quota also includes the content specified for input parameters at runtime. We recommend storing the contents for your new document in an external JSON or YAML file and referencing the file in a command. For examples, see the following topics in the Amazon Web Services Systems Manager User Guide.
Required?True
Position?1
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-DisplayName <String>
An optional field where you can specify a friendly name for the SSM document. This value can differ for each version of the document. You can update this value at a later time using the UpdateDocument operation.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-DocumentFormat <DocumentFormat>
Specify the document format for the request. The document format can be JSON, YAML, or TEXT. JSON is the default format.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-DocumentType <DocumentType>
The type of document to create. The DeploymentStrategy document type is an internal-use-only document type reserved for AppConfig.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
This parameter overrides confirmation prompts to force the cmdlet to continue its operation. This parameter should always be used with caution.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Name <String>
A name for the SSM document. You can't use the following strings as document name prefixes. These are reserved by Amazon Web Services for use as document name prefixes:
  • aws
  • amazon
  • amzn
  • AWSEC2
  • AWSConfigRemediation
  • AWSSupport
Required?True
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-PassThru <SwitchParameter>
Changes the cmdlet behavior to return the value passed to the Content parameter. The -PassThru parameter is deprecated, use -Select '^Content' instead. This parameter will be removed in a future version.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
A list of SSM documents required by a document. This parameter is used exclusively by AppConfig. When a user creates an AppConfig configuration in an SSM document, the user must also specify a required document for validation purposes. In this case, an ApplicationConfiguration document requires an ApplicationConfigurationSchema document for validation purposes. For more information, see What is AppConfig? in the AppConfig User Guide.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesRequires
-Select <String>
Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'DocumentDescription'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.SimpleSystemsManagement.Model.CreateDocumentResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.SimpleSystemsManagement.Model.CreateDocumentResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Tag <Tag[]>
Optional metadata that you assign to a resource. Tags enable you to categorize a resource in different ways, such as by purpose, owner, or environment. For example, you might want to tag an SSM document to identify the types of targets or the environment where it will run. In this case, you could specify the following key-value pairs:
  • Key=OS,Value=Windows
  • Key=Environment,Value=Production
To add tags to an existing SSM document, use the AddTagsToResource operation.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesTags
-TargetType <String>
Specify a target type to define the kinds of resources the document can run on. For example, to run a document on EC2 instances, specify the following value: /AWS::EC2::Instance. If you specify a value of '/' the document can run on all types of resources. If you don't specify a value, the document can't run on any resources. For a list of valid resource types, see Amazon Web Services resource and property types reference in the CloudFormation User Guide.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-VersionName <String>
An optional field specifying the version of the artifact you are creating with the document. For example, Release12.1. This value is unique across all versions of a document, and can't be changed.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)

Common Credential and Region Parameters

-AccessKey <String>
The AWS access key for the user account. This can be a temporary access key if the corresponding session token is supplied to the -SessionToken parameter.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAK
-Credential <AWSCredentials>
An AWSCredentials object instance containing access and secret key information, and optionally a token for session-based credentials.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-EndpointUrl <String>
The endpoint to make the call against.Note: This parameter is primarily for internal AWS use and is not required/should not be specified for normal usage. The cmdlets normally determine which endpoint to call based on the region specified to the -Region parameter or set as default in the shell (via Set-DefaultAWSRegion). Only specify this parameter if you must direct the call to a specific custom endpoint.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-NetworkCredential <PSCredential>
Used with SAML-based authentication when ProfileName references a SAML role profile. Contains the network credentials to be supplied during authentication with the configured identity provider's endpoint. This parameter is not required if the user's default network identity can or should be used during authentication.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-ProfileLocation <String>
Used to specify the name and location of the ini-format credential file (shared with the AWS CLI and other AWS SDKs)If this optional parameter is omitted this cmdlet will search the encrypted credential file used by the AWS SDK for .NET and AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio first. If the profile is not found then the cmdlet will search in the ini-format credential file at the default location: (user's home directory)\.aws\credentials.If this parameter is specified then this cmdlet will only search the ini-format credential file at the location given. As the current folder can vary in a shell or during script execution it is advised that you use specify a fully qualified path instead of a relative path.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAWSProfilesLocation, ProfilesLocation
-ProfileName <String>
The user-defined name of an AWS credentials or SAML-based role profile containing credential information. You can also specify the name of a profile stored in the .ini-format credential file used with the AWS CLI and other AWS SDKs.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesStoredCredentials, AWSProfileName
-Region <Object>
The system name of an AWS region or an AWSRegion instance. This governs the endpoint that will be used when calling service operations. Note that the AWS resources referenced in a call are usually region-specific.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesRegionToCall
-SecretKey <String>
The AWS secret key for the user account. This can be a temporary secret key if the corresponding session token is supplied to the -SessionToken parameter.

AliasesSK, SecretAccessKey
-SessionToken <String>
The session token if the access and secret keys are temporary session-based credentials.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)

Outputs

This cmdlet returns an Amazon.SimpleSystemsManagement.Model.DocumentDescription object. The service call response (type Amazon.SimpleSystemsManagement.Model.CreateDocumentResponse) can be returned by specifying '-Select *'.
