Synopsis

Calls the AWS Systems Manager CreateMaintenanceWindow API operation.

Syntax

New-SSMMaintenanceWindow
-Name <String>
-AllowUnassociatedTarget <Boolean>
-Cutoff <Int32>
-Description <String>
-Duration <Int32>
-EndDate <String>
-Schedule <String>
-ScheduleOffset <Int32>
-ScheduleTimezone <String>
-StartDate <String>
-Tag <Tag[]>
-ClientToken <String>
-Select <String>
-PassThru <SwitchParameter>
-Force <SwitchParameter>
-ClientConfig <AmazonSimpleSystemsManagementConfig>

Description

Creates a new maintenance window. The value you specify for Duration determines the specific end time for the maintenance window based on the time it begins. No maintenance window tasks are permitted to start after the resulting endtime minus the number of hours you specify for Cutoff. For example, if the maintenance window starts at 3 PM, the duration is three hours, and the value you specify for Cutoff is one hour, no maintenance window tasks can start after 5 PM.

Parameters

-AllowUnassociatedTarget <Boolean>
Enables a maintenance window task to run on managed nodes, even if you haven't registered those nodes as targets. If enabled, then you must specify the unregistered managed nodes (by node ID) when you register a task with the maintenance window. If you don't enable this option, then you must specify previously-registered targets when you register a task with the maintenance window.

The number of hours before the end of the maintenance window that Amazon Web Services Systems Manager stops scheduling new tasks for execution.
Required?True
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Description <String>
An optional description for the maintenance window. We recommend specifying a description to help you organize your maintenance windows.

The duration of the maintenance window in hours.
Required?True
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-EndDate <String>
The date and time, in ISO-8601 Extended format, for when you want the maintenance window to become inactive. EndDate allows you to set a date and time in the future when the maintenance window will no longer run.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
This parameter overrides confirmation prompts to force the cmdlet to continue its operation. This parameter should always be used with caution.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Name <String>
The name of the maintenance window.
Required?True
Position?1
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-PassThru <SwitchParameter>
Changes the cmdlet behavior to return the value passed to the Name parameter. The -PassThru parameter is deprecated, use -Select '^Name' instead. This parameter will be removed in a future version.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Schedule <String>
The schedule of the maintenance window in the form of a cron or rate expression.
Required?True
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-ScheduleOffset <Int32>
The number of days to wait after the date and time specified by a cron expression before running the maintenance window. For example, the following cron expression schedules a maintenance window to run on the third Tuesday of every month at 11:30 PM.cron(30 23 ? * TUE#3 *)If the schedule offset is 2, the maintenance window won't run until two days later.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-ScheduleTimezone <String>
The time zone that the scheduled maintenance window executions are based on, in Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) format. For example: "America/Los_Angeles", "UTC", or "Asia/Seoul". For more information, see the Time Zone Database on the IANA website.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Select <String>
Use the -Select parameter to control the cmdlet output. The default value is 'WindowId'. Specifying -Select '*' will result in the cmdlet returning the whole service response (Amazon.SimpleSystemsManagement.Model.CreateMaintenanceWindowResponse). Specifying the name of a property of type Amazon.SimpleSystemsManagement.Model.CreateMaintenanceWindowResponse will result in that property being returned. Specifying -Select '^ParameterName' will result in the cmdlet returning the selected cmdlet parameter value.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-StartDate <String>
The date and time, in ISO-8601 Extended format, for when you want the maintenance window to become active. StartDate allows you to delay activation of the maintenance window until the specified future date. When using a rate schedule, if you provide a start date that occurs in the past, the current date and time are used as the start date.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-Tag <Tag[]>
Optional metadata that you assign to a resource. Tags enable you to categorize a resource in different ways, such as by purpose, owner, or environment. For example, you might want to tag a maintenance window to identify the type of tasks it will run, the types of targets, and the environment it will run in. In this case, you could specify the following key-value pairs:
  • Key=TaskType,Value=AgentUpdate
  • Key=OS,Value=Windows
  • Key=Environment,Value=Production
To add tags to an existing maintenance window, use the AddTagsToResource operation.

Common Credential and Region Parameters

-AccessKey <String>
The AWS access key for the user account. This can be a temporary access key if the corresponding session token is supplied to the -SessionToken parameter.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAK
-Credential <AWSCredentials>
An AWSCredentials object instance containing access and secret key information, and optionally a token for session-based credentials.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-EndpointUrl <String>
The endpoint to make the call against.Note: This parameter is primarily for internal AWS use and is not required/should not be specified for normal usage. The cmdlets normally determine which endpoint to call based on the region specified to the -Region parameter or set as default in the shell (via Set-DefaultAWSRegion). Only specify this parameter if you must direct the call to a specific custom endpoint.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
-NetworkCredential <PSCredential>
Used with SAML-based authentication when ProfileName references a SAML role profile. Contains the network credentials to be supplied during authentication with the configured identity provider's endpoint. This parameter is not required if the user's default network identity can or should be used during authentication.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByValue, ByPropertyName)
-ProfileLocation <String>
Used to specify the name and location of the ini-format credential file (shared with the AWS CLI and other AWS SDKs)If this optional parameter is omitted this cmdlet will search the encrypted credential file used by the AWS SDK for .NET and AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio first. If the profile is not found then the cmdlet will search in the ini-format credential file at the default location: (user's home directory)\.aws\credentials.If this parameter is specified then this cmdlet will only search the ini-format credential file at the location given. As the current folder can vary in a shell or during script execution it is advised that you use specify a fully qualified path instead of a relative path.
Required?False
Position?Named
Accept pipeline input?True (ByPropertyName)
AliasesAWSProfilesLocation, ProfilesLocation
-ProfileName <String>
The user-defined name of an AWS credentials or SAML-based role profile containing credential information. The profile is expected to be found in the secure credential file shared with the AWS SDK for .NET and AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio. You can also specify the name of a profile stored in the .ini-format credential file used with the AWS CLI and other AWS SDKs.
