# CreateContext
<a name="API_CreateContext"></a>

Creates a *context*. A context is a lineage tracking entity that represents a logical grouping of other tracking or experiment entities. Some examples are an endpoint and a model package. The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

The name of the context. Must be unique to your account in an AWS Region.

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 120.  
Pattern: `[a-zA-Z0-9]([-_]*[a-zA-Z0-9]){0,119}`

Length Constraints: Minimum length of 0. Maximum length of 3072.

A list of properties to add to the context.  
Type: String to string map  
Map Entries: Minimum number of 0 items. Maximum number of 30 items.  
Key Length Constraints: Minimum length of 0. Maximum length of 2500.  
Key Pattern: `.*`   
Value Length Constraints: Minimum length of 0. Maximum length of 2500.  
Value Pattern: `.*`   
Required: No

The source type, ID, and URI.

 You have exceeded an SageMaker resource limit. For example, you might have too many training jobs created.
