# DeleteProtectionGroup

Removes the specified protection group.

The request accepts the following data in JSON format.

 ** [ProtectionGroupId](#API_DeleteProtectionGroup_RequestSyntax) **   <a name="AWSShield-DeleteProtectionGroup-request-ProtectionGroupId"></a>
The name of the protection group. You use this to identify the protection group in lists and to manage the protection group, for example to update, delete, or describe it.   
Type: String  
Length Constraints: Minimum length of 1. Maximum length of 36.  
Pattern: `[a-zA-Z0-9\\-]*`   
Required: Yes

## Response Elements

If the action is successful, the service sends back an HTTP 200 response with an empty HTTP body.
